It doesn’t matter his motives. Motives matter with things like theft or burglary. With the so called “hate crimes” it is the IMPACT not the motive. If his comments inflame readers, or listeners, it matters not whether he was trying to inflame them or was too stupid to know better or just didn’t care either way.
Some of us have battled for years to make the world a little easier for those that follow. I know you are still young but if you entered the workforce tomorrow you can enjoy an environment free of racial or sexual slurs. It hasn’t always been that way. You won’t have to put up with some misogynistic a**e making sexual comments at you all day and then turning round and saying “Hey, no big deal. It was just the lads having a laugh. We didn’t mean any offence”.
